I have recently started airing some CW training classes on a Tuesday evening. We have a number of club members who seem keen to learn the code, so we have taken to using the 2m Slow Morse Frequency (145.250). Sessions start at 8pm if you wish to join us.

During the session at about 10 minutes in Matt asks me about the BK ‘prosign’. I miss heard what he was asking at the time and thought he had said DK – which has no meaning and assumed he was asking about the = sign that is used alot. BK is not really a prosign but is just shorthand for Break. So it is used as either a break in or out of transmission. eg. Break in ‘BK DE G0OIK = CONVERSATION CONTINUES’ or break out ‘PLEASE STAND BY BK BK’ (SILENCE WHILE YOU WAIT).
