Facilities

cabin_opening_croppedIn June 2012 wives of club members were invited to declare the club’s operating cabin open and ready for use. It is located at over 240 metres up on the Dunstable Downs and enjoys a low level of background noise making it an ideal site. The cabin is well-equipped with mains power and a full array of antennas, enabling users to operate on a variety of bands with the minimum of preparation.

Members can also use their own equipment (‘plug and play’) or make arrangements to bring loaned club equipment as equipment of value is not kept on site.

The facilities make it is perfect for contesting with three operating positions. There is also room for computers and supporting equipment including that for making tea and coffee.

New Cabin Location

The National Trust server notice for us remove our Cabin from close to the Visitors Centre at the end of 2021 so the race was on to find a new location.

Fortunately a new location was found and our cabin is now located close to Harpenden in Hertfordshire. The club still has two towers with a selection of HF and VHF beams for members to use.

We run 2 remote radios from here offering remote access to most HF and VHF/UHF bands.

Wires-X enabled Fusion Repeater GB7HA and Digipeater MB7UO are also located here further details can be found at www.hertsrepeaters.com
