These instructions are very basic and last minute and so will be re-done more thoroughly at a later date! (famous last words!!) They were added with the RSGB Autumn series of contests in mind. Obviously certain settings will need to be changed according to the contest. If you are looking at VHF contests, then the main difference will be that you will need to select the ‘Log Type’ from the drop down menu as ‘VHFREG1’
I will assume that you have successfully installed N1MM+ (https://n1mmwp.hamdocs.com/)
Make sure you have added your details to the program – it will ask for them when you install it. If they need changing then go to ‘Config’ > ‘Change your station data…’
Connect your PC to your radio and tell the PC in ‘Config’ > ‘Configure Ports, Mode Control, Winkey, etc…’ detail of your radio with ports etc. This will enable you to have the mode and frequency automatically adjusted and entered into the log.
Then you need to set up for the contest. Go to ‘File’ > ‘New Log In Database’. In the first entry at the top ‘Log Type‘ use the drop down box to select ‘RSGB80MCC‘. In following dropdown boxes Band 80m, Power Low (upto 100watts) or QRP (upto 10watts), Mode SSB, Station Fixed, Assisted as Unassisted (unless you are connected to a cluster). Leave everything else as is but put your call sign in the Operators box. Press OK!
It is possible to set N1MM to call CQ for you, then as soon as you start typing then it will immediately stop the call. But that’s beyond the scope of this very quick tutorial. Many rigs have the ability to record your CQ so can be done that way.
You should then be ready for the contest. When filling in the logging window, after you have taken down the call if you press the space bar then the curser will jump to the RcvNr ready for you to take down the received number whilst automatically filling in the other fields. You can also use the tab key to move the curser along one entry window at a time.
After the contest you will need to save your log as a Callibro file. Go to ‘File’ > ‘Generate Callibro File’. Follow the prompts and once it is completed you will be asked if you want to submit to check partial? – answer NO,
Then you will need to upload your log to the RSGB contest checking site. Go to https://www.rsgbcc.org/hf/ and scroll down to the contest in the list (Autumn Series SSB). Click the Upload button and follow the prompts. You will be asked for the club you represent, scroll down dropdown menu to Verulam!

There are many YouTube videos that can help with N1MM+ so a search on there may help!
Good luck in the contest!
